Presidents' Day

What are you doing for Presidents’ Day? How can you extend it?
How about learning about the childhood of a president? How he came to the presidency? How he faced the challenges of office?
Mmemorizing the names of presidents can be extremely useful. A four year old will find this to be a game. Later in life, he will be able to hook new information about history into the chain of presidents and so make everything more meaningful. Today, when students do not memorize dates, sometimes they can not place whether the Vietnam War was before World War I or not. Then how can she know how the Tea Pot Dome figures in (maybe a topic for high school). Or what might be a good oil policy today ( maybe a topic for college.) So what seemed to be a game of memorizing presidents in preschool can really be a foundation for the rest of life.
